Our Most Influential Filmmakers Of 3D Animation Video Production

Influential filmmakers are something we've talked about before, from Quentin Tarantino to David Lynch. But with film, you can only expect a large variety of different types with different filmmakers having various specialities. So we thought we'd look at a genre of film in particular, and that being 3D animation video production. So, who do we find the most inspirational of animation companies? Aardman Animations Aardman are a 3D animation video company based in Bristol, and are most notable for creating the Wallace and Gromit series as well as films such as Chicken Run and Early Man. Everyone knows at least one of their films, especially in Britain! Wallace and Gromit is a household name. They're a company that work with plasticine models and create stop-motion animation for their films. It's a time-taking process but their finished products are always top notch. Seriously, there isn't a bad one in the bunch. Pixar Just like Aardman, everyone know this 3D animation video company. Pixar are owned by Disney, and have brought us some of the most iconic and genre defining films of the last few decades. Toy Story, Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo, Up and Wall-E, to name but a few. They've also won a huge amount of Oscars, BAFTAS and Golden Globes, they're a big deal, and it's hard to say they aren't at the top of 3D animated film studio pack. There's always a guarantee everyone has at least seen one. Dreamworks Some would argue that Dreamworks are the ultimate rival to Disney and Pixar. Infact, many see the extremely popular [...]

A Glimmer of Hope for the Cinema Experience

A few weeks ago we blogged about cinemas reopening, primarily in the USA, where many had had great turnouts to some long awaited films. It was only a matter of time before the UK opened the doors of chains such as Cineworld and Odeon, and fortunately for us, we've also had a great opening too. So what does this spell for the future of the cinema experience? In the last week, films such as Peter Rabbit 2 took an estimated £7m in ticket sales, the best for a film since March 2020, before we went into lockdown. Godzilla vs. Kong also performed very well, despite the circumstances regarding it's release such as being on digital home platforms for the last month. Odeon said that it sold 25,000 portions of popcorn, 9,000 portions of nachos, 3,000 hot dogs and 25,000 litres of drinks in just the first four days after cinemas reopened! Those are great numbers! This just proves with certainty that people are aching to get in front of the big screen again, something unexpected due to the past year, but welcomed all the same. It seems as though people are missing these luxuries, and that couldn't be more obvious, even when they're available in other places, safe from COVID, the cinema has had a strong resurgence. And these numbers are only going to get better, as highly anticipated films such as Cruella and A Quiet Place Part II are releasing this weekend, and in terms of the latter, it will be exclusive to cinemas. Of [...]

Understanding Drone Videography

Drone video is still as popular and as prevalent as it ever has been. But what is drone film? In basic terms, it is the use of a drone camera to capture large landscapes and cityscapes from a birds eye view position. Drone film can vary in price depending on what you are after, are you wanting footage or just photos, for example. However in comparison to our other video production services, drone filming is cheaper to do. Most video production agencies will charge on a day rate basis which may be anywhere from £500-£1000 a day depending on the level of experience. 360_video For the construction sector in particular, drones allow for easy capture of a site or landscape, that you couldn’t possibly do with a film crew. The pilot can do multiple shoots showing the progression of your site, allowing you to update your audience on what’s new and what your site will eventually become. Drones are also a useful tool for site surveys, to help measure areas of land or provide a closer inspection of a tower or tank for example that may require maintenance. The shoot is relatively simple, a pilot will check and survey the area first to ensure there are no restrictions in place. Once they arrive on site they will have a plan about where they intend to fly. Once in flight, which normally lasts 12-15 minutes they will conduct the shot and film the shots required. Depending on the [...]

Why should you make and use QR codes?

QR codes are everywhere nowadays. On the web, in print, on packaging and other media. Some would say they’re the perfect form of marketing as they are super easy to use. Using your smartphone's camera to scan one of these only takes a second and they often lead you to a particular URL you want to promote or to open a PDF document. They have become increasingly popular since COVID-19 too as they reduce physical contact and link you directly to websites where you can purchase online. But how exactly can you utilise these marketing wonders for your business, and why should you use them? Well as said, they’re everywhere, they’re probably one of the most recognisable forms of digital marketing outside of social media. They’re a quick link for anyone to get to your site in an instant, just from hovering over the code. Typing in links can be temperamental on smartphones and getting to the right website can sometimes be a pain depending on the circumstances. A QR code saves time, it’s cost effective and it’s recognisable. If your audiences notice you have one of these associated with your business or product -  they’ll know you’re ahead with digital marketing trends helping you to stand out and differentiate from the competition.  They're also great for promotions, sending someone a secret and exclusive code feels mysterious and special, a feeling that anyone would want. Scan this code for exclusive content. This language is crucial. It’s an invitation to view [...]

4D Animation and 4D Construction Animations

2D animation, 3D motion graphics, and now 4D animations are taking corporate video to a new level. Now everybody knows what 2D and 3D animation is, but what is 4D animation? A 4th dimension is essentially 3D video but with the effect of interaction. So this involves you, the audience, watching a 3D video and having an input into it, such as clicking to access certain sections of the video or bringing up certain annotations. However this is just the standard type of 4D animation, there's a lot more to it than what you might see on the surface. 4D construction animations are a unique and very special type of 4D animated video production. To sum it up briefly, they are 4D phasing animations of lots of different aspects of a basic construction animation. The best way to describe how these are made is that a lot of them are built from computer game engines, and look that way too. They are more complex in design, and they have to be, as they give the user full control over looking over the phasing and different construction elements to a building and such as.  They are 3D animated models that are seemingly built up over time to show site logistics and construction sequences. These 4D construction animations act like a cross-section, giving the audience a visual representation of the construction details, site methodology and gives the viewer a deeper look into problems that may arise from the works. Why you should use GIFs in your marketing

We’ve all seen them. GIFs are everywhere. Moving images, short animated videos, without sound, that continue over and over on a loop. Often small, and very popular on social media. These little snippets are great for marketing. How so? Well many social media sites are prone to show images and very short videos in their algorithms over longer forms of media. Research has also shown that using a mix of colour and visuals increase the willingness to view the content by 80%. Colourful imagery does really help to increase your audience’s engagement, and having an animated version of these images will only drive this harder. GIFs only last a few seconds, or however long you wish them to be. For this reason, their file size is significantly smaller making the process of uploading and loading them much more efficient and speedier. They're also usually short and sweet, so people don’t spending a minimal amount of time watch them. And if they're as good as they should be, the entertaining and eye-catching nature of them and how you've produced them will encourages viewers to watch more of them. These reasons help them to be a prime piece of content for all kinds of social media platforms. As well as this, due to their small size and unique engagement aspects, they can also work in emails and e-shots or in PowerPoint presentations. So if you're wanting to show a small and short clip to meet these requirements, a GIF is a [...]

Will You Be Going Back To The Cinema?

The world is opening back up again, slowly but surely, and with that comes the reopening of cinemas. Now we've talked about how the pandemic has effected cinema on our blog before, but things seem to be making a change. In the United States, the newly released Godzilla vs. Kong movie has set a pandemic record with a $48.5 million debut. This is huge, a film that didn't really have too much advertising behind it until the last month or so, has done what Christopher Nolan's Tenet tried to accomplish last year, in creating a massive consumer return to cinemas. Of course in the UK we're still waiting for cinemas to reopen. But is this recent success for the US be a sign that cinemas are going to survive longer than what we presumed a year ago? Potentially. It's worth noting that cinemas in the UK aren't due to be opened until at least June if the government's roadmap goes according to plan. So, that's a couple of months delay for us to catch up to the US, so our cinemas won't be able to reap the financial benefits of what Godzilla vs. King could possibly make. Yet, June is the perfect time to open. Summer blockbusters are the ultimate money makers for cinemas, and with big films such as Black Widow and The Suicide Squad releasing this summer, people will be aching to get back in front of the big screen to see a film, especially these ones. So, it could be that UK cinemas [...]
