IMOVIE

This app is free for iOS and is considered the benchmark for in app video editing. It’s is super easy to navigate, allowing you to simply cut and splice your footage to create quick, catchy videos to post on your social channels.

There’s various add ons you can incorporate into your videos if you want them slightly more polished such as titles, music voiceovers and effects. If you want to really exaggerate your footage there’s also a range of TV style templates and movie trailer themes for you to choose from. It can even handle 4K footage.

SPLICE

Available for iOS Splice is also a free editing software with no adverts or watermarks embedded. Created by GoPro, Splice is a great all round video editing app that can edit footage straight from your phone or from other devices.

One of the perks of Splice is that it offers multiple audio tracks and sound effects for free, as well as syncing with your iTunes library.

QUIK

For Android users, GoPro also offers a free but slightly more basic alternative that allows you to keep your videos looking sharp.  You can import footage, sync to music in just a few clicks and it has various add ons if you subscribe.

ADOBE PREMIERE CLIP

This app is available for both iOS and Android users. Premiere Clip is a fairly simple app for mobiles, it allows you to cut and splice clips of video and photos. You can drag and drop into a timeline, add music and various video transitions.

Unfortunately, there’s no way to detach audio from accompanying video or adjust either one independently—a fairly simple matter for iMovie for iOS. While Premiere Clip does create titles, they can’t be overlaid onto your video, only against a background colour of your choice. Transitions are also limited to basic fade in/out and dissolve between clips.

It does however link to other Adobe CC tools allowing you to export to the Creative Cloud once you’re done.
